Intro:
This beef stroganoff recipe is a rich, creamy, and comforting dish made with tender strips of beef, earthy mushrooms, and a luscious sour cream sauce. It’s a quick weeknight dinner that feels like a gourmet treat — ready in just 30 minutes and perfect served over noodles or rice.

📋 Ingredients:

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or tenderloin, thinly sliced into strips
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced (cremini or white button)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes (for serving)

🍳 Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Beef

  1. Slice the beef into thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide.
  2. Season with salt and pepper.

Tip: For easier slicing, chill the beef in the freezer for 15 minutes before cutting.

Step 2: Sear the Beef

  1. In a large skillet or sauté pan, heat 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the beef strips in batches, cooking for about 1–2 minutes per side until browned (do not overcrowd the pan).
  3. Remove and set aside.

Step 3: Sauté Onions and Mushrooms

  1. In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter.
  2. Sauté the onions for 2–3 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for another 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.

Step 4: Make the Sauce

  1. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of flour over the mushroom mixture and stir to coat.
  2. Slowly pour in the 1 cup of beef broth, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard and stir well.
  4. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce starts to thicken.

Step 5: Add Beef and Sour Cream

  1. Return the seared beef (with its juices) to the skillet.
  2. Lower the heat and gently stir in the 1 cup of sour cream.
  3. Cook for 2–3 minutes more, just until heated through. Do not boil.

Step 6: Serve

  1. Serve hot over buttered egg noodles, steamed rice, or mashed potatoes.
  2. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

✅ Tips for the Best Beef Stroganoff:

  • Use high-quality beef sirloin or tenderloin for tender results.
  • Don’t overcook the beef — a quick sear keeps it juicy.
  • Stir in the sour cream off the heat to prevent curdling.

Why Meat ?

For me, meat is more than protein it’s a love language. My grandpa’s shop wasn’t just a business; it was a place where farmers, families, and food lovers swapped secrets over sausage samples. Those early lessons stuck:

  • Respect the ingredient: From pasture to plate, every step matters.

  • Simplicity shines: A handful of bold spices can outshine complexity.

  • Cooking connects: A perfectly seared steak or a slow-cooked stew has the power to turn strangers into friends.

After training at [culinary school or relevant experience, e.g., “a renowned culinary institute”/“working in farm-to-table kitchens”], I realized my true calling was bridging grandpa’s old-world wisdom with modern, approachable recipes. This blog is my way of honoring his legacy and helping you create moments that linger long after the last bite.
